What does the error mean?
The site says: “We regret to inform you that your online payment transaction could not be completed successfully.” Under it sits one button: “Please retry”. The words sound heavy. The meaning is small. Your payment did not go through. That is all it says.
Is your booking lost?
No. Log in to the VFS site again. Your dashboard shows your booking. The status says “In Progress”. A tracking number sits next to it. Keep that number. All your typed answers are still there.
Why must you wait two hours?
The site locks retries for a while. Your row says: “Retry payment after 2 hrs.” The retry button sleeps at first. It wakes after two hours. So wait, then try again. We saw this on 1 September 2026.
Why did the payment fail?
The common cause is the card. The pay page takes Visa or Mastercard. Your card must allow international payments. The site itself warns: “Please ensure your card is enabled for international transactions to complete the payment.” So call your bank. Ask one question. Does my card allow international payments?
